Small Bathroom Effects That Can Make A Big Difference

Whether you have a small bathroom and you wish you had more space or you just want to refresh the look of your smallest room we think we have some great ideas that could help you.

Give The Illusion Of Space

If your bathroom is on the small side you could employ the age-old trick of hanging a large mirror across one wall, or use mirror tiles. This really does work to make a room look bigger than it actually is. Shower curtains can effectively cut a room in two so replace yours with a slim-line clear screen instead. Rather than have a full-length towel rail taking up space, use small coat hooks instead. Or fix several small rails to the back of the bathroom door and hang your towels on these.

Use The Wall Space

Instead of cluttering up every available surface with toiletries, toothbrushes and so on, go upwards to utilise unused storage space. Fix a shelf above the door or window to hold spare towels or even books and magazines. Fix storage baskets to a wall. Use the space inside your shower cubicle to place small wire baskets, or clear plastic boxes for easy cleaning; hang these in a neat row from an existing shower rail or put up a new rail for added strength and then fill these with your bath and shower toiletries. Using several smaller storage containers rather than one or two large ones can look neater as well as helping you to find things quicker.

Make Better Use Of Your Cabinets

Wall cabinets, under-sink storage units and free-standing dressers can all be modified by adding pull-out drawers or shelves, or even small plastic bins, either within the units or on the back of the unit doors. This way you will find that you can get so much more stuff into your existing storage units instead of having it scattered around the room. Alternatively, if you have no under-sink storage unit then install one or make one. It’s amazing how much space you can free up by doing this. If your kids use a step to reach the sink swap this for a stepped storage box to hide all their bath toys in.

Make Use Of The Tub

If you have a bathtub that has removable sides and end panels you could convert these into drop-down panels (you may have to use stronger panels rather than plastic) and fix storage baskets behind these so that all your bits and bobs are invisible.
